Distribution Substations
Distribution substations are very important to the power grid. They lower the voltage from 69,000 volts to 13,200 volts so that the distribution transformers won't break and can lower the voltage for houses. Distribution substations have lots of equipment. The main equipment is:power transformers, SF6 circuit breaker, disconnect switches and risers

distribution power poles
Distrubution systems operate at many different voltages. Main lines operate at 34500 volts. There is a lot of different equipment. There are cutout switches, transformers, reclosers, platform transformers, sectionalizers, capacitors and switches. There are also lots of types of lines. They are: 3 phase 4 wire main lines, singlephase taps and "V" phase taps. Here are some pictures of them:
My Name is Cameron
My name is Cameron and I'm 8 years old. I LOVE power poles and drawing. I want to tell people all about power poles. I have visited a Lineman College, read Electrical manuals, and look at websites on the internet about powerpoles. I'm going to share on my blog all about power poles. Here is a picture of power poles that I drew two weeks ago. It has bald eagles on a nest on a distribution power pole.
